Paisley agate comes from the Mojave Desert east of Los Angeles. It comes in several patterns with plume, breccia, etc. embedded in white holding chalcedony/agate. Like much of earthquake-prone California material, healed, semi-healed, and open fractures are something one deals with, usually by filling, as it rarely has pretty crystal vugs. The colors are attractive, however, so it has always been desirable. Almost all that area is now closed to collecting (either marked off to protect endangered species or for military use), so if there is more out there, it's not accessible.
