This type of peridot was a one-off find on the eastern slopes of the Washington portion of the Cascade Mountain range. As far as we know, only a few large cobbles were found on private land. We've never seen anything like it from anywhere else. It has sub-metallic magnetite streamers which undercut during the cabbing process. So the lightest touch is necessary during the process of cutting. Even when it undercuts, that can only serve to emphasize the streamer pattern in a cabochon. Something different for people who have peridot as their birthstone. this material makes beautiful cabochons, especially when it is cut down somewhat on the thin side so the translucency is more evident.
