Kornerupine Cat's eye is very rare gemstone known for it's chatoyancy or cat's eye effect, an optical effect where a narrow ray of light appears to run down the centre of the stone. This band of light moves side to side across the stone as the stone is moved in the light.
This example has a white-gold band of light running across it which is complimented perfectly by the greens of the stone.
Cat's eyes from Sri Lanka are highly prized for the sharpness of their chatoyancy effect.
Kornerupine Cat's eye stones on occasion do naturally include fissures on the cut surface, and this stone has a rounded back surface.
